So I was flipping through the channels on my "On Demand" through cable and came across a free movie. The movie was "Of Mice and Men" with Gary Sinise and John Malkovich. It was really good but I still love Burgess Meredith as George. This story still breaks my heart and turns my stomach into knots as I know what's coming. I remember reading this story in High School and when I got to the part with the mercy killing I looked up shocked, my heart pounding in my chest. I remember looking around at all my fellow classmates who were just "readin' along..." Has any book made you have a visceral reaction to it so much so that you can't read it years later?
